Wandered into the Donnelly Museum last Saturday afternoon mostly to get out of the rain, and ended up staying almost two hours with my camera out the whole time. The natural light coming through the front windows around 3pm made for some great shots of the old artifacts without needing a flash. One of the volunteers noticed me lining up shots and quietly pointed out a display case I'd have walked right past, which was a nice touch. Small, well kept, and easy to park near, it is well worth a slow visit if you like history or just want a few good photos.
Great museum! Love the buildings in the back to immerse yourself into a different way of living.
Staff was wonderful! I didn't catch her name, but our tour guide was pleasant, kind and very knowledgeable.
They sell Donnelly books as well and I was able to find the book I'd been wanting. I much prefer buying from the museum than ordering on Amazon.
Such a great place to visit! Learnt a lot today about Lucan history. The staff there is very helpful, welcoming and friendly.
