The pastries looked beautiful and there was a great selection, but the taste itself was pretty average. Nothing was terrible, but nothing really stood out either. Overall, just an okay experience.
It’s nothing fancy, and I found some of the items a bit overpriced.
This is not an authentic French bakery as no French bakery would be caught selling the quality of the pastries Pastry Culture sells. The room temperature pastries were stale and tasted over a day old and the refrigerated ones had that gross refrigerated taste to them, which suggests they have been in that pastry case for too long. The ham and cheese croissant was soggy and inedible. None of this is to the standard of a European pastry found at an Aldi let alone an independent French bakery that charges these prices. Selling stale, multiple day old food is inexcusable at this price point. The staff also didn’t know the names of their pastries, so ordering was slow and frustrating on top of the pastries not being worth the time to order.
The Pistachio Brownie was actually really good—perfectly balanced, not overly sweet, and the pistachio flavour blended beautifully with the brownie. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The portion was way too small for the price, which made it feel overpriced and not worth the money. I also had to order it through Uber Eats, so with the delivery fees and overall cost, I expected a much more satisfying portion. I really wanted to love this, especially because the flavour itself was good, but the value for money was honestly disappointing. I wouldn’t order it again unless the portion size or pricing improves.
I hate to say this but it was way overpriced for a pastry that tasted like it sat on shelf for a week in a cigar shop. $20 for a sliver of cheese cake and a biscuit donut filled with whipped cream. Very disappointing.
