W haven’t been in the clinic since pre Covid. We were greeted by a volunteer and she explained the entire clinic, got a wheelchair for my husband (long walk) and escorted us to the clinic waiting room. Everyone was so welcoming and kind. The doctor and his resident took their time and explained everything and answered all our questions. We spent 90 minutes with them and had a clear understanding of next steps for my husband. Excellent care, thank you

Since I have been diagnosed just in July and I felt my world just fell apart. So when I met with my medical oncologist and everyone has been supporting as my health care team takes time to listen to me and when I went to get my bloodwork done. I was upset as I was starting to lose my hair. So she told me about the hats, scarves and wig store.

My experience has been a very positive one from the volunteer who showed us around the first day to the doctors, nurses, receptionists, pharmacists, lab techs and anyone else I have forgotten. We are so blessed to have the Verspeeten family Cancer clinic in London.

I am trying to stay positive that my experience will improve. I was offered to stay at the hotel during my care but declined because I have other underlying medical conditions that sleeping in my own bed helps to manage. I have learned that there are many other services that I could have access to like Wheels of Hope. This was not shared with me. But now down to a few visits I will continue to drive myself. Also that there was funding that I could apply for to help offset the travel cost if I was not able to secure rides with Wheels of Hope. Because I did not seek out rides I do not qualify. I was to have weekly reviews with my Dr as I have 4 weeks of Monday to Friday treatments these were not scheduled even my Dr said see you next week and I said to Dr, I wasn’t scheduled. I guess I should have asked for the appointment but I trusted the Centre to setup appointments laid out in my initial consult. Or for Dr to request once the Dr knew the appointment was not scheduled. I am down to 3 more visits and I have seen Dr once. I now have complications due to the radiation and was instructed by my radiation team to call Triage Nurse. I followed the directions only to feel dismissed. As I already have a Dr appointment in 2 days. But they may call be back, so keep waiting. I am trying my best to take care of my other conditions with other specialists but feel I can’t as the radiation schedule can changes daily. One day I was scheduled for 9:45am only to have it changed the day before to 5:40pm. This happened again 11am to 4:45pm. Small changes on other days but how can anyone schedule anything around this, rides or other supports. Some of the scheduling staff is great caring and compassionate while others become angry and hostile when you ask for them to help with scheduling. One other point your scheduled is not shared with you until the day treatments starts. So if you have other appointment best to cancel all them until treatment concludes. It is also very important you never miss a call from the Centre as they leave messages and staff may not know why a Dr called. And Dr’s are super busy they do not call back. I was to start treatment in August but they rescheduled start and did not advise until the business day before with no explanation. Unfortunately we have to go forward with our treatments to have best outcomes fighting this illness, but want people to know how difficult this treatment is. The only way for change is to voice concerns and issues. Hopefully this will reach the management team so they can see how this is having a negative effect on patients.

I was diagnosed with a very rare and viciously aggressive cancer called Inflammatory Breast Cancer. My surgeon has sent a referral 3 times now. They obviously don't know that the best practice for this form of cancer is immediate chemo because im looking at almost 2 months and not contacted by them yet, even to do intake. My surgeon , myself and even my Family Dr has called to inquire but had to leave messages with no return calls at all. They obviously aren't educated or straight up don't care about the outcome of patients lives. How can anyone trust a cancer hospital like that? I definitely suggest going anywhere but here!
